Overview

Situated along the bustling Jl. Margonda in Depok, Pempek Lapan Duobelas Palembang Resto offers an authentic taste of Palembang’s culinary heritage. This restaurant specializes in pempek, the beloved fish cake that has become synonymous with South Sumatra’s rich food culture. Its location in Kemiri Muka makes it accessible for families and food enthusiasts seeking a genuine Indonesian dining experience away from the usual urban rush.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the variety of pempek selections, ranging from the classic pempek kapal selam filled with egg to the signature large lenjer shaped in long slices. Each is served with the traditional tangy and slightly spicy cuko sauce that balances the savory fish. Alongside this, the menu features other traditional Palembang specialties, including mie celor 812, a creamy coconut milk-based noodle soup brimming with shrimp and egg, and pindang ikan patin, a sour fish soup that earns high praise for its fresh, vibrant flavors.

Beyond pempek, the resto caters to diverse palates with dishes like nasi mandi kari kambing – a fragrant spiced rice with tender goat curry – and nasi goreng seafood, which adds a hearty Indonesian-fusion dimension. The dessert offerings such as es durian and es kacang merah provide a refreshing end to the meal, especially suited to the tropical climate.

What makes dining at Pempek Lapan Duobelas special is not just the food, but the thoughtful space tailored for families. The open-air layout allows natural light and creates a casual, warm environment. Children’s safety and entertainment are taken care of with climbing spots and toys, contributing to a relaxed atmosphere for parents. Service is noted for friendliness and attentiveness, with staff ready to accommodate special requests, enhancing the overall experience.

This restaurant serves not only as a culinary destination but also a social space where families, local residents, and visitors come together to enjoy Palembang’s unique flavors. It appeals especially to those who appreciate traditional Indonesian cuisine served in a comfortable, community-oriented setting. While some might find the prices on the higher side, the quality and variety justify the experience. If you are in Depok and crave authentic Palembang fare paired with a welcoming ambiance, Pempek Lapan Duobelas is worth a visit.

nice restaurant, good service from employee giving an extra plate for child by customer request. it gives freedom toward child random act. good food. there's a climbing spot if customer want to try with bed as safety. there's another toys but it need extra care from employee or new toys would be more attractive. it's an open restaurant so expect smoke if customer or owner anytime want it. there's a great "bar", it looks great if it's cleaner in child area. but if you look for Palembang food, drink, snack, souvenir you will be grateful coming there
